CHRISTMAS WEEK at The Dickens Project!
We roll into our final week of this year's Dickens celebration with stories both familiar, and less so . . .
Sunday, December 22nd
- Noon - Other Works of Dickens: Selections from Mrs. Lirriper's Legacy
Freda Frostbite graces THE DICKENS PROJECT stage with
selections from "Mrs. Lirriper's Legacy". It was among several collaborative works
published in ALL THE YEAR ROUND, a Victorian weekly literary periodical founded
and owned by Charles Dickens. "Mrs. Lirriper's Legacy" appeared in
the Extra Christmas Number (1 December 1864[13]) and was a collaboration with
Charles Allston Collins, Rosa Mulholland, Henry Spicer, Amelia Edwards, &
Hesba Stretton.
Presented live in voice.
- 4pm Both Days - A Christmas Carol in Two Parts
So, you missed hearing the timeless words of Charles
Dickens' story of transformation and redemption during "By-the-Stave"
week? No worries! Caledonia Skytower shares her personal
holiday tradition of performing the entire text, unedited, in the days immediately
before Christmas. Presented in two
approximately 90 minute parts (because Cale's voice won't last for 3+ hours)
All sessions are presented Live, in Voice. All times are SLT.

Thursday, December 19th
Friday, December 20th
Sunday, December 22nd
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:
It is will sincere apologies that we announce that the planned "Walk Through" Sections of this year's Dickens Project will not all be opening as planned. The sections were all begun, but RL circumstances and internet challenges (plus prims) have conspired against completing these areas to our standards, and realizing this goal has ceased to be realistic.
We are pleased to announce that we will be opening the "Christmas Past" area today (12-19) and it will be available for exploration through the balance of this year's Project. We hope to schedule an impromptu reading of Stave Two with guests invited to explore while the reading is in progress to experience the "Greater Vision" of The Dickens Project.
Look for the teleport station near the "Christmas Past" Illustration slide show.
Thank you all for your support, and a Happy Holidays!

THE DICKENS PROJECT IS BACK! ~ December 13th through 26th
It was just a year ago that we tried out something new in celebration of the the Dickens Bicentennial of his birth. We thought "there are celebrations all over the real world, why not in the virtual world as well?" That was how The Dickens Project iSL was born.
After two weeks, thousands of visitors and nearly thirty hours of live voice programming from the author's works, we decided it was too good an idea for just one year. So we are trying it again! Thanks to the generosity of Thinkerer Melville, this year's Dickens Project has found a home on Cookie, and will feature the next steps in the "big dream" of a totally immersive environment for the enjoyment of live readings from the vast Dickens canon of works.
http://slurl.com/secondlife/Cookie/64/36/32
In less than a week, the first presentation will mark the opening of this year's celebrations. To whet you appetite, here is the preliminary schedule. Check back often for updates as we countdown to opening day, as the schedule will be subject to change, even once the the Project starts. All times SLT.

On her very first day in charge, the young witch’s generous nature leads her to make a big mistake, and setting it right may cost her everything.
1:30PM - TALES OF LORD DUNSANY with Corwyn Allen
Edward John Moreton Drax Plunkett, 18th Baron of Dunsany (24 July 1878 – 25 October 1957) was an Irish writer and dramatist, notable for his work, mostly in fantasy, published under the name Lord Dunsany. Corwyn shares selections from his works in the spirit of the season.
2:30PM - SPOOKINESS, 100W AT A TIME with Crap Mariner
If we've said it once, we've said it whole bunches of times, and we REALLY mean it! Long ago, he swore an oath to write a 100 word story every day until the day he died. He's not dead yet.Always unpredictable and irreverent, no subject is too sacred, no cow too holy for Crap not to pull it out, examine it, and bang it on the table a few times before putting it back where he found it - albeit slightly crumpled. He's a man with a mission!
http://oneadayuntilthedayidie.com/
3:00PM - ORIGINAL SPOOKY STORIES with Fred Frostbite
Freda (aka Stephanie Mesler) will be performing, THIS ONES FOR THE GIPPER a new spooky story and A DIVA SCORNED which premiered at the very first BooFest. Maybe a Halloween poem or two if there is time.Check out her fresh new website at http://www.apoetsprogress.com
4:00PM - HER OWN WORDS with Caledonia Skytower
Caledonia (aka Author Judith Cullen) presents her own words, but actually, that is the title of her most recent short story as well. Have you ever been haunted by your own words after the fact? What if you were haunted by them, literally? HER OWN WORDS was written as a haunting tale for several online ghost story contests this month, one of which is reader voted! Click Here for more about that and to visit her site.
4:30PM - THE TELL TALE HEART with Caledonia Skytower & MadameThespian Underhill
We wrap up our day of spookable story-ness with a classic from the Master of Macabre himself! For what would October be without something from Edgar Allan Poe? These ladies add an unsettling twist to the tale, whose original narrative voice is a man - are they mad? You be the judge.
